Minimal Eclipse Install

Please note that most of what's on this page is obsolete now. I'm just keeping it around for future reference.

A fairly complete software development environment, written mostly in Java, is Eclipse (software)

I was interested in finding a smaller install than one would normally find at http://www.eclipse.org/downloads.

After some research I found that if one goes to http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads instead, then clicks on the 'build name' for the latest release, then scrolls down to the 'Platform Runtime Binary' partway down that page, here are more minimal downloads to be had. Examine http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/compare.php to see what else may be required.
